Badgers blocking out exterior noise as they prepare for battle with Ohio State

While the Badgers (9-0 Big Ten, 12-0 overall) moved into the No. 4 spot of the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday night, there are still differing feelings regarding the team at both the local and national levels. There’s the committee who begrudgingly moved the undefeated team up at last, and the analysts who are certain of the Badgers’ place in the playoff with a victory versus Ohio State (8-1, 10-2) in the Big Ten Championship Game. The collective feeling possessed by UW’s, however, is none too concerned with the various playoff permutations being touted or the efforts to nitpick Wisconsin’s favorable schedule. The Badgers are just excited to be back in Indianapolis.

Novinski playing key role for Badger swim

On Oct. 19, an 18-year-old freshman at Wisconsin, who spent the majority of high school training alone, put the entire NCAA swimming and diving community on notice when he beat 2016 Olympian Jay Litherland in the 100-yard backstroke at a dual meet. That swimmer’s name is Matt Novinski, and he’s hoping his performance in the pool won’t let opponents forget it.

Unranked Northeastern stun top-ranked Badgers in Washington road trip

ARLINGTON, VA — Wisconsin’s trip to the nation’s capitol was supposed to serve as a chance for a pair of additional non-conference games, as well as continue Head Coach Mark Johnson’s tradition of playing neutral site games in areas without a women’s collegiate program. But instead the number-one ranked Badgers (16-1-0) were dealt their first loss of the season Friday in a monumental upset, as they fell to upstart Northeastern (8-7-1) 3-2 in suburban Washington D.C. The Huskies capitalized on a slow start from UW and a sterling, 39-save performance from freshman goalie Aerin Frankel to become the first unranked team to beat Wisconsin since Bemidji State in January of 2015. “We didn’t capitalize on our opportunities and their goaltender played really well,” Johnson said. It didn’t take Northeastern long to jump out to a surprising lead.

Freshman guard Brad Davison led the Badgers with 19 points in its win over Milwaukee.

Wisconsin suffers down stretch against both Baylor, UCLA

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team (2-3) headed to Kansas City, Mo., this week to compete in the Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center. The Badgers opened the two-game tournament against No. 22 Baylor, and despite a valiant comeback effort ultimately fell just short to the Bears, 70-65. Seven-foot sophomore forward Jo Lual-Acuil Jr.

Wisconsin advances to Sweet 16 after 1-0 win over Notre Dame

Mike Catalano didn’t want to stop dancing. The senior midfielder scored a header in overtime to give the Wisconsin Badgers (4-3-1 Big Ten, 12-4-5 overall) a 1-0 win over the No. 12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-3-2 ACC, 11-7-2) and continue the Badgers’ run in their first NCAA Tournament since 2013. “"It's exciting for the guys to be moving onto the round of 16,” head coach John Trask said.
