Two new polls released Wednesday show the presidential race tightening in Wisconsin, with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton losing ground to Republican rival Donald Trump in the last month. According to the August Marquette University Law School Poll, Clinton leads Trump 45 to 42 percent with likely voters and 42 to 37 percent amongst registered voters.

The UW System will request a slight budget increase in the 2017-’19 state budget, according to a preliminary proposal released to reporters Tuesday. Gov. Scott Walker has indicated a desire to continue a freeze on in-state tuition at UW System schools, according to a letter released to state agencies last month. In the document, Walker said his 2017-’19 biennium budget proposal would freeze tuition to help preserve the accessibility of higher education in the Badger State “To build on our commitment to student success, we must extend the tuition freeze,” Walker wrote in the July 25 letter.
UW-Madison students may need to re-register to vote in the Aug. 9 primary election, according to a UW-Madison news release. Students who were registered previously but have moved more than 28 days before Aug. 9 must re-register at their current address. Students who moved less than 28 days prior to Election Day may use their previous address.
