After extended exhibition season, Wisconsin set to open regular season with win over South Carolina State

After more than a quarter of a season’s worth of preseason exhibition games, the regular season has finally arrived for the Wisconsin men’s basketball team. A five-game tour of Australia and three more scrimmages have a young Badgers squad unusually prepared for its opening-night matchup with South Carolina State. “Since we had so many exhibitions, it doesn't really feel that different to me,” freshman guard Kobe King said.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard and the rest of UW's men's basketball team teamed up with students to raise more than $20,000 for cancer research Monday afternoon.

?Students aim to shoot down cancer in Swish Upon A Cure

Hundreds of students graced the Kohl Center floor Monday afternoon to show off their basketball abilities and raise money for cancer research in the sixth annual “Swish Upon A Cure.” The event connects UW-Madison students with members of the men’s basketball team, and in the process supports Garding Against Cancer, an organization tasked with raising awareness and funds for cancer research and care in the state of Wisconsin. “The motivation for Garding Against Cancer was the loss of my dad,” head coach Greg Gard said.

Wisconsin Badgers' March Madness run cut short in chaotic Sweet Sixteen matchup with Florida

NEW YORK—While the Florida Gators (27-8) were celebrating their 84-83 overtime victory over the Wisconsin Badgers (27-10) mere feet from the spot of Chris Chiozza’s game winning 3-point shot, Ethan Happ walked over to Zak Showalter, pulled him away from the Gators’ jubilant scrum and put his arm around Showalter’s right shoulder. “I told him that it was good,” Happ said.
