Fight on Park Street leaves 14-year-old girl unconscious

Three teenagers were arrested last week after a fight on South Park street left two other teenagers injured, one of whom was unconscious. “The victim was pulled down by the hair and punched multiple times in the head,” Madison Police Department Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in an incident report.

Violating the alternate side parking ordinance can be punishable with a $20 fine, which increases to $60 during a declared snow emergency.

Alternate side parking rules go into effect Tuesday

The City of Madison will start enforcing alternate side parking rules Tuesday at 1 a.m., and the rules will stay in effect through March 17, 2017. The alternate side parking rules mean that Madison residents must park their cars on the odd-numbered side of the street between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on odd dates, and park on the even-numbered side of the street on even date mornings, according to a city press release.

Man arrested for peeping on Langdon Street

Madison Police Department officers arrested John Kuznezow, 54, for invasion of privacy Monday night after there were reports of a man sitting in a tree looking through windows on Langdon Street. “Upon arrival officers discovered Kuznezow still in the tree and he appeared to be looking in a second floor window to an apartment,” MPD Lieutenant Anthony Fiore wrote in an incident report. “When officers ordered Kuznezow out of the tree they noted his pants were undone and Kuznezow had no reasonable explanation for his presence in said tree.” MPD investigated the incident and found there was a female resident inside her apartment and that she was unaware the suspect had been watching her.

Sexual assault occurs after suspect, victim meet at Wando's

A 26-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after meeting a man at Wando’s on University Avenue and accompanying him back to his apartment. The suspect and victim were previously unknown to each other, according to a Madison Police Department incident report. The suspect reportedly assaulted the victim at his apartment before she was able to leave, according to the report.

World Series ends with bang in Madison

The Madison Police Department dispatch received two reports of gunshots following the Chicago Cubs'x victory in the World Series Wednesday night. According to an MPD incident report, an officer on duty also heard a “possible” gunshot, but the officer heard “nothing that allowed the officer to specifically locate the source.” “Based on the calls originating from different locations in the city, and the time of the reports, it is believed that the gunshots may have been a [celebratory] response,” officer Anthony Fiore wrote in the report.

West Johnson Street to close for Biden visit

The Madison Police Department will close part of West Johnson Street Friday, starting at North Bassett Street and ending at North Carroll Street for an event featuring Vice President Joe Biden. According to a city press release, the closure will be from 7 a.m. through 3 p.m
