As children, we were handed all of our romantic relationship
expectations from various, seemingly innocent movies. With
Valentine's Day coming up, it's time to compare what we know now to
what we learned then. This in-depth analysis will take you on a
roller coaster of truth. Be warned: It turns out that the couples
we learned from were completely and utterly dysfunctional. Here we
present six influentially bizarre movie relationships from our
childhoods.

These days country music is often associated with cheese like
Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts. Because of this, it's
hard to give the genre the benefit of the doubt. More often than
not, the only thing such artists ever add up to are catchy melodies
and clichéd heartache. In a genre once infamous for being
remarkably honest, it has now turned the corner onto Pop Street,
and honesty has been sacrificed for one-dimensional, radio friendly
garbage. The glory days of Johnny Cash are behind us, and thus it
seems quality country music is as well.

When Cold War Kids released Loyalty to Loyalty in the
fall of 2008, it was met with mixed reactions. There was no doubt
the group had changed its tone since their first full-length album,
2006's Robbers & Cowards, but reviews wavered on
whether these changes were any good. A common critique was that the
band's tempo had slowed, giving them a more low-key sound. Those
who deemed this a positive transformation will be pleased with the
group's latest release, Behave Yourself EP. Those who
thought otherwise won't be as thrilled.

More often than not Camera Obscura is written off
as a ""chick group,"" which is an absolute shame considering the
brilliant music they create can be appreciated by far more than
chicks. Their 2009 release, My Maudlin
Career, is a prime example of this.
While the band didn't conquer any new ground for themselves or
music as a whole with the record, they still managed to release
arguably their best record yet.

There are a million adjectives that could be used to describe
Antony and the Johnsons' 2009 release, The Crying Light,
none of which would do justice to the drama of the energy Antony
Hegarty's operatic falsetto and lush orchestration. But for lack
of a better way of explaining the album's intensity, they must be
used: spellbinding, passionate, transfixing, compelling, striking;
the list goes on and on.

Although it might seem slightly eccentric to listen to
traditional African music, The Very Best have jazzed it up in a way
that makes it accessible to anyone smart enough to listen.
Comprised of Malawi-born singer Esau Mwamwaya and DJ/production duo
Radioclit, each half of the collaboration brings to their debut
album, Warm Heart of Africa, what they do best. The end
result is an energizing pop-dance sound with intriguing cultural
flair.

When looking for music that brings to mind images of plaid
flannel shirts, Samuel Beam-style facial hair and worn-down
corduroy pants, look no further than Ola Podrida. With every solemn
melody and subtle lyric, the group evokes such images. It's likely,
however, that when visualized, these images don't seem all that
unique. That's because they're not.

It's not easy being a female artist these days. With so much
estrogen-driven talent already permeating the radio waves from
artists like Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley and Cat Power, it can be
difficult for the other girls to get a note in edgewise. Clare and
the Reasons, however, remain undaunted by this intimidating group
of artists with the release of their latest album,
Arrow.

These days, few voices croon as delightfully as Sondre Lerche's.
This voice is back with the release of Lerche's latest album,
Heartbeat Radio, which is just as delightful as the voice
that brings it to life. With his token whimsical overtone, the
Norwegian singer-songwriter uses the same elements that forced
everyone to fall in love with him and his previous work, but
manages to keep things fresh and lively.

From their artsy, whistle-laden world, Peter Bjorn and John
deliver its latest album, Living Thing. Though the Swedish

success of their 2006 single ""Young Folks"" catapulted them into a
world of mainstream radio stations and ""Grey's Anatomy""
soundtracks. With Living Thing, Peter Bjorn and John are out to
show that they are not a one-hit wonder destined to be torn apart
by VH1 commentaries of the future.

Few things go together as well as dinner and a movie. What beats
sitting on the couch, staring at a screen with a plate of great
food in front of you? Nothing. Gluttony might be one of the seven
deadly sins, but the pleasure this activity brings outweighs all
eternity in Hell.
