Midway through the first quarter against Akron, redshirt senior tight end Eric Steffes lined up on a third and sixth as one of the two players at the end of the Wisconsin line of scrimmage. When the ball was snapped, Steffes ran a successful whip route, pretending to go across the middle of the field, before halting, spinning and sprinting toward the sideline. Redshirt senior quarterback Bart Houston pumped once and stepped up in the pocket before finding the open Steffes for a first down.

In 2012, long snapper Connor Udelhoven walked into the Badgers locker room as an anonymous walk-on looking to impact the Wisconsin football team. Five years later as a redshirt senior, he is still just as anonymous, but his impact no longer goes unnoticed.

Junior Eddie Wajda stepped into the first tee box at the Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational last April hoping to play three high-quality rounds of golf. Mother Nature, though, had other ideas. Rain and hail had already caused the Badgers’ normal Saturday practice round to be canceled. With temperatures hovering around 35 degrees and hail and snow sprinkled throughout the golf course, Wajda and the Badgers were informed Sunday afternoon that they would not have to battle the putrid weather conditions for three rounds this week, but instead only two.

Coming out of camp true freshman Anthony Lotti won the starting punter competition over redshirt sophomore P.J. Rosowski. Lotti, a two-time, first team all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, came to Wisconsin as a three-star recruit replacing senior Drew Meyer, the Badgers’ kicker last season. On 49 punts in high school last season, Lotti averaged 45.4 yards per punt, including 19 punts inside the 20-yard line and 15 punts of 50-plus yards.

Jonathan Tsipis walked up to the podium as the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers in the Nicholas-Johnson Pavilion Thursday afternoon wearing a blue button-down shirt accompanied by a striped red tie. Both were intentional on the part of Tsipis and, like any good shirt-tie combination, represent the strong cohesive identity he hopes the Badgers will have under his new regime.

Leading by one point against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (24-11) Happ, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, had just picked up his fifth foul diving for a loose ball, a decision that would immediately haunt the Badgers (22-13).

Tuesday afternoon when the Badgers (3-15 Big Ten, 7-22 overall) fell 76-72 to the Northwestern Wildcats, the Wisconsin career for five seniors officially came to a close. It didn’t take much longer for head coach Bobbie Kelsey’s time in Madison to end as well, as the UW Athletic Department announced Friday Kelsey had been officially let go.

All season long Wisconsin head coach Bobbie Kelsey preached the importance of playing four complete quarters. Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, the Badgers did just that. But much to its chagrin, it needed to play a complete fifth period in order to advance to the second round of the tournament. Wisconsin’s first overtime period of the season turned out to be its final period of the season, as it fell to the Wildcats, 76-72.

After the Wisconsin Badgers (3-15 Big Ten, 7-21 overall) fell to the Northwestern Wildcats last Saturday afternoon, head coach Bobbie Kelsey straightforwardly summed up the most important part of basketball: “Basketball is about making shots,” Kelsey said.
