Wisconsin has always been associated with power football, and an
integral part of that had been the thankless yet important job of
fullback. From recent stalwarts like Bill Rentmeester, Chris
Pressley and Matt ""the Hebrew Hammer"" Bernstein to former NFL
standout Cecil Martin who blocked for Ron Dayne (recruited mostly
as a fullback), all the way back to Heisman winner Alan Ameche, the
position has been essential to Badger offenses.

It may seem unorthodox, but at halftime on Saturday, Wisconsin
head coach Bret Bielema was thinking about delaying the band's

stranger since, at that point of the game, his team was leading
31-0.

It's not often Wisconsin plays a team whose offense makes the
Badgers' look like an aerial attack. Typically it is the Badgers

The traditional belief is that the people with the best
understanding and expertise in an area should be viewed as the top
authorities on most matters in the field. That belief also often
extends to giving those individuals more control over said field,
since they should know it the better than most observers.

Most people would get discouraged when something they worked
four years for didn't work out. They might quit, try to escape the
disappointment, or even get mad. Dustin Sherer isn't like most

It may seem a quite bold for a player making his first start to
call that he will force a turnover on the next play. But when you
deliver on that prediction, as freshman linebacker Mike Taylor did
on Saturday against Northern Illinois, that is another story.

It's not often David Robinson and John Stockton will be referred
to as ""those other guys"" in basketball circles. On Friday,
however, that's what they'll be.

Wisconsin game plan of heavy power running and controlling the game
on the ground.

During the off-season, the top question on most fans' minds was
simple: who starts at quarterback?

Heading into next season, the Wisconsin men's hockey team's
success will be defined by the answers to a pair of crucial
questions: Can the glut of talented skaters finally play up to
their potential, and how will the team replace several key
contributors whose Badger careers just finished?

With the year nearing its unavoidable conclusion and seniors
nearly ready (or for some far beyond ready) to end their stay in
Madison, it only seems appropriate to reflect on the athletic feats
and disappointments which the class of '09 has borne witness to.

For many basketball players, entering the NBA draft after their

sees his journey through professional basketball, which never took
him to the world's top league, in an entirely different
light.

To say that Brian Butch's first year out of college has featured
some traveling might be a bit of an understatement. After all, the

Germany, all in the hope of purusing a career in professional
basketball.
