In the new millennium, we can watch a police officer kill a citizen as easily as we can start a Netflix trial. These past few years of headlines, from Florida to Ferguson and beyond, have served as an archival of wrongdoing: a grandparent being beaten into the soil, black children being shot down in their neighborhoods, peaceful protestors swallowing tear gas in the night. America has swallowed its tax dollars into a whirlpool of distrust, time and again, leaving citizens clamoring for relief from the ailment of a system they can no longer trust.

To some, he is a middle-aged naked guy riding around on a motorized scooter wearing nothing but a thong and a cape, shocking the town and scaring children. To most Madisonians, however, he is a caped crusader, a naked knight, a scantily clad star. He is Thong Cape Scooter Man.

After a physical home win over the Oregon Ducks, the Badgers (2-0) took down the Tennessee Lady Volunteers (1-1) on Sunday in another Madison scorcher. The heat had a visible effect on the players, and it quickly became a battle of strength and stamina. Tennessee was the more physically daunting team, with four girls standing at 5 feet 11 inches, and had a clear mindset to use that to their advantage.

If you’re like me, you’ve been enthralled with the 2014 NBA Draft ever since the media’s talking heads proclaimed last fall that this would be the most talented draft in years. Not only would there be potential all-stars and franchise players at the top, there would also be many quality role players to be found in the middle and later parts of the draft.

Gustave, “The Moveable Feast,” stood over six feet tall, a simultaneous monolith and iconoclast. He dressed well—perhaps lavishly would be a better term—with a wardrobe appropriate and commodious to his stature. Standing behind Foster, The Moveable Feast wore a sepia-tinged houndstooth jacket, wide shouldered on his barrel-like rotundity. A pine-green handkerchief, redolent of balsam, was tucked in his left breast pocket. Foster could smell it even over the smell of vegan pastrami disintegrating upward. He wore no tie; instead he wore a turtleneck whose hue matched the handkerchief. He wore black dress pants and polished leather shoes to complete the ensemble.

Books and literature have never been just about entertainment. To say that one merely reads “for fun” would be nothing short of the kind of travesty only previously seen when someone fell asleep during Star Wars. Just so you know, they never find the bodies.

Klasper and Foster climbed the ladder upward. Now they were standing in the foyer between the upper floor ladder and the crisscrossing hallways leading to the kitchen and living room. The sun shone lilac through the front door’s windows.

With the Golden Globes and Grammys buzz coming to an end and the Oscar's just around the corner, celebrities are preparing to look their best and hopefully receive a prestigious award. The line to get in was immense, stretching down the majority of Exhibition Hall. There was some slight confusion—on the part of your gustatory nomad—as to how to get in, since one line moved one way and the other moved the opposite way. It turns out one line was for the coat check, which was gleefully sidestepped in order to get closer to the festivities. The fest was sold out, which should come to no surprise given what the fest was sampling.
