Two months into college, I've come to realize that some of my
simplest joys come from one thing: food. When searching for the
perfect school, I knew I would not be able to function if the
campus didn't offer a wide variety of restaurant options. With this
in mind, Potbelly and Chipotle quickly became a quintessential part
of my college criteria.

British pop star Lily Allen has carved her niche in the new wave
of pop music that has come out of the UK in recent years. Allen's
music creatively personifies her free-spirited attitude, her wild
personal life and the issues people face growing up.

Parents and binge drinking. Probably two aspects of life most
students like to keep separated. But in the hazy twilight between
youth and adulthood, and particularly in Wisconsin, the two often
mix in surprising, sometimes humorous ways. Father and son
reconnect over a shared love of Schlitz and towering beer bongs.

On Sunday night, the Atlanta Thrashers took the ice for their
season opener, and began their year in the dismal fashion to which
their fans must be accustomed: With a 5-1 loss at the hands of the
Montreal Canadiens.

When a friend of mine recently told me that the rap crew Odd Future
existed only to inspire more thinkpieces, he meant that they only
had a following because they are an incredibly interesting group,
not necessarily because their music has any quality. After some
thought, I have decided to accept his proposal at face value and
move on with my life. Hence, this is my second column on Odd Future
in two weeks.

Earlier this week, state Senator Mary Lazich, R-New
Berlin, proposed a bill, which would essentially repeal the 2010
Healthy Youth Act. HYA requires schools that offer sex
education to offer comprehensive education discussing
contraceptives, sexually transmitted infections, and healthy
relationships. Lazich's bill proposes changing the
preferred method of sex ""education"" in the state of Wisconsin to
emphasize abstinence as ""the only reliable way to prevent
pregnancy.""

With the 2012 Republican presidential primaries fast approaching,
the chalk graffiti on Bascom Hill suggests that one
candidate has gained a lot of momentum on campus: Rep. Ron Paul,
R-Tex. Paul, a 12-term congressman, has cultivated a loyal
fanbase in recent years thanks to his rigid
ideological consistency and libertarian values, which have
attracted conservative and liberal support as well as an incredible
amount of online donations.

This year, the city and UW-Madison officials are going buck wild in
their attempts to curb alcohol consumption among university
students on and off campus. First, Mayor Paul Soglin
introduced a Nuisance Party Ordinance that has the potential to put
students on a ""chronic nuisance list."" Then, he
voiced his plans to halt the 2012 Mifflin Street Block Party, and
now Dean of Students Lori Berquam looks to wean UW
students off of Old Thompson's teat through the initiation of
alcohol awareness seminars.

An uncertain ownership situation has led to a very uncertain future
for the Phoenix Coyotes. Rumors have swirled for a while now that
the team will inevitably be forced to relocate from the American
southwest to the franchise's original home, Winnipeg, Manitoba,
where the Jets played from 1972 until 96. The Atlanta Thrashers,
who have ownership problems of their own, have been rumored to be
also exploring the possibility of a move to Winnipeg.

Until recently, the Associated Students of Madison's bafflingly
unorganized, unaccountable and bureaucratic funding system could
justifiably be compared to a wild game of Monopoly with student
segregated fees. This year, however, we were pleased to see ASM
make some refreshing and efficient changes when it came to getting
things done.

Fans of Los Angeles-based musician Alfred Darlington,
a.k.a Daedelus, are quick to emphasize
the DJ's continual defiance of genre. He mixes elements of jazz,
rock, dubstep, film clips and ambient noise—critics
claim he mixes with abandon for an eclectic repertoire. Whether you
believe that or not, the trend of listen-ability is one he fully
continues in Bespoke, a Ninja Tune release that exemplifies
Daedelus at his best and most controversial.

Every day, the national debt rises by $4 billion. This is an astounding number by any account, and one that is unsustainable for a healthy economy. In response to this spiraling plunge, a number of our nation's most prominent politicians have put forth plans to single-handily eliminate the deficit and get America back on the ""Path to Prosperity."" Like a peanut gallery playing a game of hot potato, the Democrats and Republicans continue to disagree about the right combination of cuts and tax increases, offering wildly different proposals with little chance of reconciliation.

There are several things I absolutely would not give up to return
to the sweet decade of my birth. Giving up my Macbook and trading
shows like ""Dexter"" and ""Weeds"" for ""Roseanne"" simply would
not fly with me. And I can't say I'm too keen on the scrunchies and
Zubaz pants. But there were so many other truly magnificent things
about the '90s.
