In the basement of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Vilas Hall in 2013 sat Abby Becker, Scott Girard and a plate of grilled cheese sandwiches. What followed is an eight year relationship and 2021 marriage, all beginning in The Daily Cardinal office.

Maybe I’m writing this article because I’ve hit the point in the semester where the honeymoon phase of romanticizing how great my classes are and how easy they will be is over. Maybe I’m writing this essay because I'm at the age where one begins to question if their education will ever pay off. But most likely I’m writing this essay as a lazy college student who doesn’t look forward to working five days a week in a structured setting to only have two days off to fit our “life” into.

A few weeks ago, I told you Nicole Kidman would keep me around purely out of the fact that I needed a tight-laced mystery in my life as we approach another stretch of stay-at-home orders.

You met your partner, they swept you off of your feet, and now you want to spend the rest of your lives together. Sure, there are hard times ahead, but do you have to think about that yet? Can't you stay in the honeymoon phase a little while longer?

As our COVID-riddled state rolls back openings and braces for whatever the months ahead hold, these past few weeks of “Summer: Live from Wisconsin Quarantine!” have started to feel like they’re simply repeating the same events every single day. Over and over — and over again.

Sometimes, you may want to dress up and go out, but having a night in with friends is also appealing. There are a number of benefits. Unlike many New Year’s resolutions to spend more time unplugging and disconnecting — my own involves spending more time focusing on the screen, not less. 2019 was largely a mixed bag for television. Some shows like “Fleabag” and “Succession” broke out from first-season success stories to become second-season award darlings, while others like “Game of Thrones” failed to provide a satisfying conclusion that fully resonated with fans. Regardless of whether or not you believe (spoiler alert — Bran) should sit upon the Iron Throne, 2020 provides a fresh slate of new originals, adaptations and many others from across streaming everywhere. Don’t worry, favorites like “BoJack,” “Ozark,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Westworld” will be returning too, but for now, these are just a few of the newbies you should check out in the coming months.

So, my roommate is getting married in a few months, and I’ve offered to help her out. I’m a bridesmaid, not her maid of honor, but I’ve worked in catering for a few years. Once her boyfriend proposed, I offered to give her a hand with planning and preparation. Fast forward and I’m really worried for the wedding. It seems like she’s way behind on everything. She doesn’t have a plan for the food. Invitations haven’t been sent out. Things like dress code haven’t even been decided yet . Some of this is stuff my friend claims her sister will do, but her sister doesn’t seem to be taking care of anything. Her sister is nice, but she’s really young and seems totally over her head. I know you don’t need these things to get married, but they’re all things my friend has said she wanted. Now it seems like all she wants to do is think about her wedding, but won’t do anything. I’ve worked on stuff like this to know how long it takes to plan a big celebration, and I don’t want to see my friend’s wedding fall apart. After all, I did promise to help. How can I help her with these problems without coming off as crazy?

When Mario was first introduced as Jumpman in 1981’s “Donkey Kong,” video games were in a much different landscape. Arcades were thriving, but the Video Game Crash of 1983 had nearly put an end to consoles. If not for a Japanese company that formerly dabbled with playing cards and other niche markets, it most certainly would have.

Radric Davis, better known by his stage name Gucci Mane, has dropped his 11th studio album titled Mr. Davis by GUWOP Enterprises and Atlantic Records. The Atlanta trap-rap pioneer has been in stride since his 2016 release from prison. Noteworthy albums like Everybody Looking and The Return of East Atlanta Santa marked a more mature — and thankfully sober — Gucci, and now, every aspect of the rapper's music has improved.

This Tuesday, “The Mindy Project” aired its second episode of its final season on Hulu and fans are already voicing their complaints about the new season. Hulu has this function where if you scroll to the bottom of the page while watching an episode, you can see Facebook comments from other viewers. Whenever I watch something on their streaming service, I always find myself scrolling down to see what others are thinking — spoiler alert: It’s never anything that nice. The comments below the two most recent episodes of “The Mindy Project” have been especially terrible and I think the fans are ignoring how the show continues to take a classic romantic-comedy genre and turn it on its head in a really funny and genuine way.
