Since Quentin Tarantino made a huge splash with \Pulp Fiction,""
he had only directed the Elmore Leonard adaptation ""Jackie Brown""
and one segment of the ill-conceived ""Four Rooms."" With Tarantino
lying dormant, cheap knockoffs of his dark style, like Troy Duffy's
hollow ""Boondock Saints"" and Roger Avary's miserable ""Rules of
Attraction,"" failed, and more modest writer-directors like Wes
Anderson came into vogue. Now, Tarantino has directed his first
original script in nearly a decade in ""Kill Bill: Vol. 1"" and has
done the unimaginable by exaggerating his already jarring style.
The results are mixed.

Tanner Wray and Karl Debus-Lopez have the longest relationship
of any of their friends, having met 20 years ago this week.

Bucky Badger does it all. He revs up the student section at home
games, he does push-ups for each point scored at home football
games and he even...well...abuses opposing mascots. Bucky is the
life of the game, the rallying point behind the clean cheers the
student section occasionally performs and the heart of the student
body. But who is UW's beloved Bucky and why is he so
popular?

As an attempt to address the grand issues of the loss of rural
life and adaptation to modernization, \Red Betsy"" brings an
emotional account of the generation gap to the big screen.

Madison is a multi-faceted city with something for everyone,
even during the quieter summer months when most of the students are
gone. Huge lakes attract anglers, water skiers and sunbathers.
Winding trails and paths throughout the city provide routes for
bikers, runners and those looking for a bit of solitude. Summer
attractions often overlooked by students milling around campus are
the city gardens, currently in full bloom. They present a fragrant
and refreshing alternative to those looking for ways to spend a
sunny afternoon.

Jennifer Karlin and Amelia Borofsky's \Regeneration: Telling
Stories from Our Twenties"" is clearly targeted towards a
college-aged crowed. The two editors have compiled numerous tales
on a variety of subjects that hit close to home with all of us.
Unfortunately, the absence of stories with a unique focus and
strong individuality holds the collection back from reaching its
true potential.

Considering the box-office success of independent
culture-crossing comedy \My Big Fat Greek Wedding,"" it is wholly
unsurprising to see British success ""Bend It Like Beckham"" hit
U.S. screens. ""Beckham"" was a massive hit in Britain for obvious
reasons. While not very innovative or original, the film executes
the coming of age formula in a subtle way that most Hollywood
comedies lack. Mixing culture, romance and soccer, ""Beckham""
knows how to make you care, despite its predictability.

This Valentine's Day, I was sitting with my ex-boyfriend,
watching a documentary on the History Channel about the Playboy
Mansion. It's a long, boring story why I chose to spend the big V
with an ex, much less watching a three-hour festival of boobs. The
shorter, more interesting story lies in the commercials we saw that
night.

For those who read the movie poster for \A Guy Thing"" before
entering the theatre, two things stand out. First is the movie's
likable pair of Jason Lee (""Chasing Amy"") and Julia Stiles
(""Save the Last Dance""). Second, the tag line reads, ""Boy meets
girl. Boy meets girl's cousin."" With a horrid concept and script,
""A Guy Thing"" relies on the charisma of Lee and Stiles to
generate any humor at all. Paul (Lee) is about to wed Karen (Selma
Blair). His goal is to make it through his bachelor party without
doing something he'll regret. He awakes the next morning next to a
young dancer from the party, Becky (Stiles).

On the night of Saturday, Nov. 2, I was in Milwaukee at a

Except for this weekend's third Lecter movie, there truly aren't
many options in the theaters for movie fans. If you don't want to
subject yourself to \Sweet Home Alabama"" or ""The Tuxedo,"" and
you're tired of hearing about ""My Big Fat Greek Wedding,"" what's
a filmgoer to do? Turn to a former New Kid On The Block, of course.

Media are often referred to as the fourth branch of government.
People say this because the media should have the same
accountability. In the past few years, this has not been the case.
Corporatization has pushed news media to entertain, rather than
inform.

Last Friday, Tom Green and Jason Lee stole not only Harvard, but
also time and money from several unfortunate moviegoers. Going into
\Stealing Harvard,"" one might anticipate the similar antics that
Tom Green provided us with in his last Oscar-worthy picture,
""Freddy Got Fingered."" However, with a lack of gruesome injuries,
animal genitalia and sexual pleasure via bamboo, ""Stealing
Harvard"" doesn't even compare. Although ""Freddy"" received some
of the worst reviews in movie history, the film's ruthless attempt
did provide some laughs. Stealing Harvard, however, accomplishes
nothing of the sort.
