Halfway through Jesus is King, a certain track begins with an acoustic guitar playing an eerie riff, slow and steady into each note. It’s mixed really well, and the riff is more akin to “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin than “Gorgeous,” a guitar-focused track from West’s landmark My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It sounds new and exciting, and I’m excited for the track to keep layering on. What was next? Drums? Vocals?

Missed deadlines. Group projects gone wrong. Being late without a text. There are a lot of reasons to be irritable with one another, to lose our tempers, or to misplace our patience. This is particularly true as our already-low tolerance dwindles with each midterm, each final project assignment, and the looming break awaiting us in a few week’s time.

Basketball season is back as the Badgers prepare to officially kick things off on the road against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, November 4. Wisconsin began play this year with an 82-53 victory over UW La Crosse during in an exhibition game Friday night. However, although the Badgers took care of business Friday night, so did the rest of the Big Ten conference.
