I went home this past weekend to visit my folks who live in the
greater Green Bay area. I read in the paper that my favorite
childhood collegiate hoops team - the UW-Green Bay Fighting Phoenix
- had a game Saturday night against in-state rival UW-Milwaukee. I
decided to go to the game and watched the Phoenix narrowly claim a
four point victory over the Panthers. The teams are No. 2 and 3
respectively in the Horizon League standings behind nationally
ranked No. 15 Butler.

In today's world, it's very hard to maintain integrity in the

Last week I became reacquainted with an old friend: VH1's Best
Week Ever,"" a recap of the week's best moments in pop culture,

has been pretty disappointing.

I feel like I know you all well enough now to share something
about myself: I don't hate a lot of things, but I fucking hate
sleeping in airports. Of all the places to wedge one's noggin at
night, the space between those crappy airport chair/benches and
their steel arm rests is probably the most likely to make me cry
when I wake up and remember how awful the world is. Well, that and
the piece of cardboard in the garage that my parents made me sleep
on growing up. But at least that was home.

One week from now, I can rest easy. One week from now, I won't
have midterms, papers, quizzes, labs or any other stresses in my
life. I'll be curled on the couch, in a partially vegetative state
in a tryptophan-induced coma and enjoying some of my favorite
Thanksgiving traditions. I wake up for the Macy's Thanksgiving
parade, then flip back and forth between the Westminster Dog Show
and watching the Detroit Lions lose to whatever team they're
playing. However, one tradition that has yet to catch on in my
family is the Thanksgiving movie.

While there are many things we can be thankful for this
Thanksgiving, food is undoubtedly biting at the top of the list.
Consider even how much you would really love the Thanksgiving
holiday without the emphasis on the Thanksgiving meal.
