In their first games of the new year, Wisconsin showed a similar level of inconsistency to what had become the norm in 2022. The Badgers defeated Notre Dame on Friday in dominating fashion. Saturday night, however, Wisconsin looked vastly inferior to the very same team.

The Wisconsin Badgers (11-2, 3-0 Big Ten) kicked off the Big Ten portion of their schedule in true Big Ten fashion — with a frustratingly inconsistent offensive yet strong defensive performance. The Badgers ultimately pulled out a victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-7, 0-3) at home, 63-60.

If playing in close games was in style, Wisconsin would be leaders of the trend. In yet another overtime game, the Badgers pulled out a gritty win, as they took down the high-powered Iowa Hawkeyes on the road, 78-75. Now boasting a 2-0 Big Ten record, the Badgers are finally cracking the AP Top 25, picking up the No. 22 rank after Sunday’s win.

Wisconsin returned to conference play last weekend in a two game series against Michigan. The Badgers entered the weekend without a conference win while Michigan entered ranked No. 5 in the nation. Wisconsin managed to split the series, taking their first conference win on Friday night.

The authoritarian regime set precedent for how they would approach the pandemic through utilizing strict isolation and testing measures while imposing sporadic — yet lengthy — lockdowns.

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have conversations about enrollment dates similar to how veterans talk about where they were stationed during wartime. Since the critically acclaimed first season of “The Mandalorian'' debuted on Disney Plus in late 2019, succeeding Star Wars shows have fallen into a familiar pattern — overindulgent cameos, mediocre writing and artificial sets.
