Wisconsin's men's basketball head coach Bo Ryan didn't have much
time to celebrate his 100th career Big Ten victory. After a close
loss to Purdue on Thursday, No. 5 Michigan State (9-0 Big Ten, 19-3
overall) comes into the Kohl Center tonight.

Still remember the stressful days of college application? Your
piggy bank was never full enough for the application fees, $50 here
and $60 there. Next came the tortuous months when every frantic
reach for the mail box ended with you empty-handed. Thanks to
fast-track college application, all these pains could fade out of a
high school senior's life, but that might not be an entirely
positive development.

If there was any question as to what a series between two
premier college hockey teams should look like, the No. 3 Wisconsin
Badgers and No. 1 Denver Pioneers provided a clear answer at the
Kohl Center this weekend. After battling back from a two-goal
deficit in a frantic third period to force a tie on Friday night,
Wisconsin took to the ice on Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd
and grabbed an early lead. Denver clawed back into the game late,
but senior forward Michael Davies notched the game winner for the
Badgers with less than seven minutes to play, earning UW a
three-point weekend while solidifying a spot in the thick of the
conference championship race.

Peering into my parents' refrigerator after a semester away at
college was like putting on 3-D glasses and turning off the lights:
Everything looked good.

When the Wisconsin women's hockey team faced off against Wayne
State last Friday, there was one player on the Badger bench who was
probably the most anxious to get back out on the ice. And when she
did, freshman forward Brianna Decker made the most of it.

When the Michigan Wolverines take the field at Camp Randall
Stadium Saturday, they won't be looking to shore up a resume for a
BCS berth or gearing up for a dynamic rivalry game with Ohio State.
No, on Saturday they will be fighting for their first FBS win since
September and their best chance for bowl eligibility.

For three weeks the doubts and questions festered. Can the
Badgers respond well to a loss? How do they avoid the snowball
effect that led to a four-game losing streak last season?

Every night before I get my beauty sleep, I put my cucumbers on,
lie on my pink silk sheets in my Victoria's Secret Sexy Little
Things collection laced bra with matching crotchless panties and I
think to myself, why do I feel so objectificationed all the
time?

Cincinnati and Texas, the lone unbeatens in the Big East and the
Big-12 respectively, will be put to the test Saturday. Meanwhile,
the winner of the USC and Oregon matchup in Eugene will likely
produce the frontrunner for the Pac-10 title. With Iowa comfortably
leading the Big Ten, some of the middle of the pack teams will try
to separate themselves this weekend.

Facing moral dilemmas typically creates extremely difficult
situations for me, not only because I have no morals, but also, I
lack any kind of decision-making skills whatsoever.

There are some games in which two bitter rivals battle for every
point, trading the lead until one can will its way to a
close-fought victory. The Daily Cardinal's 24-7 depantsing of The
Badger Herald Friday afternoon was not one of those games.

Nick Toon: Sophomore wide receiver Nick Toon had four catches
for 53 yards against Ohio State, including a team-high 33-yard
reception.

In the last two seasons, the Badgers have not been quite able to
shake off their first loss. In 2008, the team fell three more times
after its first defeat, and in 2007 it followed its first setback
with a 31-0 trouncing at the hands of a middling Penn State
team.

The Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize committee's October 9
announcement that Barack Obama won the 2009 Peace Prize came as a
shock to most.

Talk to anyone from Platteville High School, and they'll say
that sophomore Louis Nzegwu is one beast of a running back. But
who, Badger fans may ask, is Louis Nzegwu? Isn't John Clay the
Badgers' beast of a running back?

Wisconsin head football coach Bret Bielema made it clear in his
weekly press conference Monday morning that his team's win over
Michigan State last week is old news.
(09/21/09 6:00am)
It may seem unorthodox, but at halftime on Saturday, Wisconsin
head coach Bret Bielema was thinking about delaying the band's
fifth quarter performance to practice ball security. It was even
stranger since, at that point of the game, his team was leading
31-0.
(09/08/09 6:00am)
In a season opener, history would suggest a traditional
Wisconsin game plan of heavy power running and controlling the game
on the ground.
(09/04/09 6:00am)
Coach Bret Bielema and the UW coaching staff were faced with
several tough decisions before announcing the depth chart for
Saturday's opener against the Northern Illinois Huskies. It's
likely that the public was slightly thrown off by a depth chart
that includes shared duties at both quarterback and running back.
