Many politicians make promises of reducing poverty, helping the
homeless and serving those less fortunate. While some follow
through on those promises with legislation, others, like state
Representative Steve Wieckert, take the term ""public servant"" to
a whole new level.

A lot of people, especially up here in Packer territory,
consider football to be the best professional sport. Back in
Chicago, however, there is nothing like the summertime when at
least one of the city's two baseball teams is playing at home every
day. It's more than that though. There is a war between the Cubs
and White Sox even when they aren't playing each other—and that war
might reach a peak this year with two quality teams taking the
field.

There was nothing more ravishing on Oscar night than the
smashing onscreen pairing of two men that sent me sprinting out of
the bathroom. Dripping wet and holding my towel, I gazed at the
screen as Leonardo DiCaprio joked awkwardly with Al Gore about
presidential elections and global warming.

The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team is about to enter the

Lily Allen's musical beginnings (daughter of British celebrity
spurns record industry hit factory and runs own promotional
campaign over MySpace) have been harped by the media so many times
that it seems like it all must have happened 100 years ago. Even
so, the go-it-alone story is still a helpful introduction to
Allen's Alright, Still because it is mostly by virtue of her own
good taste that the album avoids the disaster areas pre-ordained by
the tabloid-fodder break up that inspired many of its songs.

The Melvins have always fallen short of the mainstream""maybe
that's why they're so damn good. They heavily influenced the grunge
movement and inspired more than a few doom metal acts with their
savagely slow tempos and fanatically fuzzed-out guitars. But sadly,
the FM gods have denied the radio-listening public the pleasure of
the Melvins' eclectic rock cocktail.

opponent.

Six to eight dogs the size of wolves, all strapped together with
leather harnesses, their ears pricked up and jaws open wide,
barreling down a trail of powdery snow and dragging a sled behind
them. They're moving as fast as they possibly can, oblivious to the
sled rider's directions or cries to slow down â_ it takes a metal
hook driven into the ground to finally stop their run.
