With only a few days left in the semester, it always feels like
everything is coming to a close to make way for the lazy and
carefree summer. When it comes to movies, that couldn't be further
from the truth - the summer movie season is about to begin, and its
packed with a variety of prospective gems and guaranteed bombs. So,
as my tenure as movie columnist draws to a close, let me take you
through what looks to be an interesting summer at the movie
theater.

Throughout the 2003-'04 National Hockey League season, rumors of
a possible lockout have loomed over the league, both on and off the
ice. As of today, the owners, represented by NHL Commissioner Gary
Bettman and the NHL Player's Association, led by union chief Bob
Goodenow, are meeting in Toronto to negotiate terms. The two sides
have until Sept. 15, the official end of their current collective
bargaining agreement, to resolve their differences.

Colorado football Head Coach Gary Barnett testified to a
Colorado University Board of Regents panel Tuesday for almost five
hours in relation to allegations of inappropriate recruiting
practices and player misconduct. The panel is investigating whether
the Colorado football program uses alcohol and sex to lure

Because of the dedicated efforts of most of the state Assembly
Democrats, we will not face concealed weapons on our campus, in our
malls or in our Capitol building. There will not be concealed guns
among the drunk revelers on a State Street Halloween. Our police
will not be kept in the dark about who is carrying weapons.
Concealed weapons create an illusion of safety that is not really
there.
