The day before finals, Jonathan Henderson, a freshman at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, was studying with friends when his dad called.
Back in high school, a classmate asked me with a straight face: “What country is the Tour de France in this year?” I was dumbfounded. I told her it only happens every four years, but next time it will be in either England or Great Britain; I couldn’t remember which one. Although I expected this girl to get a negative number on her ACT, she somehow goes to UW-Madison (and she’s actually smart, believe it or not).

Dear Bascom,
It's a Saturday night and your big moment has finally come. You've been growing your scrubby facial hair out for the last two weeks, and you're wearing shades to cover up your bright blue eyes, even though your fake ID says they're brown. Yes, tonight is the night you finally get into Wando's bar in Madison, and now there's only one obstacle standing in your way. His name: Jbob Immel. His job: Experienced bouncer, the guy keeping you the fuck out.
This summer, the Wisconsin state Senate passed legislation aimed at curbing local and municipal control over housing laws. Senate Bill 107, which was introduced by state Sen. Frank Lasee, R-De Pere, would prohibit local governments from enacting ordinances limiting a landlord's ability to show an apartment, search a prospective tenant's background or use that background information as the basis of rejection. The bill will be taken up by the state Assembly at some point in the current session.

The Student Judiciary postponed a ruling that would remove Associated Students of Madison Vice Chair Beth Huang and committee chair Niko Magollan from student council Wednesday.
