""The Fountain"" will be released on DVD May 15. It has been one
of the most talked about films of 2006, receiving both criticism
and praise. Arts writers Joe Pudas and Eric R. Schmidt are here
today to discuss the film.

The recording industry continued its crackdown on illegal
downloading Wednesday by threatening to sue what it says are its
worst offenders—college students.

It only took 13 minutes for my family to call me after the Bears
lost the Super Bowl.

\Are you a cop?"" one guy asked me, and I'm not really sure if
he was kidding. I assured him I was not and was then welcomed to
the group and invited to stay for dinner.

Shaun can barely contain his excitement about his recent
discovery of www.dailycardinal.com. This is great news for Shaun,
who never leaves home without his precious Mac laptop. He may be a
computer nerd, but he will never miss a day of the best news on
campus. Now he can type his homework, listen to iTunes, chat on
AIM, Facebook-stalk and read ""Mondays with Jay"" simultaneously.
This might sound impossible, but this kid can easily pull it
off.

When it comes to politics, I'm like a bear wading out into a
mighty river in search of salmon. Generally, I avoid the turbulent
depths of the political news cycle, but every now and again I
wander out in search of nourishment and attempt to snag some
understanding of current affairs.

I have a rough life. As ""the food guy,"" I'm constantly offered
free food, hounded to taste a yummy cake and bribed with delicious
treats. But when it comes to relationships, cramming your face
doesn't exactly make them come running. But why should I change who
I am for some girl?
(11/08/06 6:00am)
It could be the girl frantically scribbling down notes next to
you in lecture. It could be the bundled-up couple holding hands
walking through Library Mall. It could even be your TA. Do you
think you could really tell if someone starred in Internet
pornography? How would you know?

Nearly three years ago I made a pact with some friends from my
hometown that we would oust our U.S. representative, Dennis
Hastert. Since the prospects of an 18-year- old upsetting a senior,
10-term Congressman (who also happens to be two heartbeats from the
presidency) in a district so conservative it makes Rush Limbaugh
look like Karl Marx, it seemed rather unlikely. I tabled the idea
until further notice.

Right now, being a sports columnist is like being Anttaj
Hawthorne at Nate Newton's house. It's like being Marv Albert at
Victoria's Secret. It's even like being Razor Ramon at a toothpick
store.

The Farmers' Market may feature locally grown delectables, but
some UW-Madison students have found that nothing is more satisfying
than the crunch of a handpicked apple.

Imagine a world that comes with its own soundtrack, where it
takes not much more effort than a single thought to hear anyone's
voice and a box that sits in your room can answer almost any
inquiry or satisfy any curiosity that may come to mind.

If you're thinking about school, between writing papers,
cramming for tests and weeping silently into bowls of ramen, most
students are not likely to be spending much free time in front of a
computer screen chatting on AOL Instant Messenger.

The Plaza Tavern is Madison's answer to Cheers. It has a strong
cadre of regulars that love its friendly atmosphere—including the
bartenders that gently persuade patrons to get the fuck out!\ at
bartime. While many of the city's bouncers turn belligerent at 2
a.m., the Plaza staff's bellows are laced with love. The bar has a
wealth of cheap drink specials including the popular Thursday $2
Long Island. A solid selection of beers is at patrons' disposal and
cheap pints abound. Poor and thirsty? For a mere $4, a large
half-pitcher of beer makes the drinker feel like Paul Bunyan
clutching a water tower full of ale.

A Golden DucatGaming has undoubtedly been one of the great joys
of my life. It has been with me from the time I was little and got
my first Nintendo for my birthday, up to this day when I maxed out
my credit card so I could buy a new Xbox 360. I've seen Nintendo
survive the 16-bit wars only to have their crown stolen by the
upstart—as far as gaming is concerned—Sony.
