Two-thousand eight has not been a year to remember thus far for
Wisconsin head football coach Bret Bielema. The Badgers lost to
Tennessee 21-17 in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day. His
offensive line coach left the team to take over the same position
at UCLA shortly afterward. And several players have gone down with
injuries during spring practices.

Several members of the 3-0 Wisconsin football team utilized
their bye week to heal before the Big Ten opener against Michigan
Saturday. Sophomore cornerback Aaron Henry is still struggling with

Coming into the season, it was expected that the Wisconsin men’s
hockey team (0-2 WCHA, 1-3 overall), containing 20 freshman and
sophomores, would face its fair share of adversity, but the hope is
that the youth on this team will learn from those experiences and
grow.

Last season was a banner year for the Wisconsin football team, but
perhaps no game was discussed as much as UW's 83-20 drubbing of
Indiana. The Badgers face the Hoosiers this weekend at Camp Randall
Stadium, but the players and coaches know that they can't take
anything for granted.

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema would likely cringe
at any suggestion that his football team is glamorous in any way,
shape or form.

Non-conference play proved to be a breeze for the Wisconsin
football team, but with the Big Ten season beginning this weekend,
the Badgers will find out just how good of a team they really
are.

While a few dedicated dreamers still
strolling to class in cargo shorts and flip-flops may be ignoring
the inevitable, the ugly truth is that summer is over and the fall
semester is upon us. It's hard to ignore the clearly inverse
relationship going on here—the temperature keeps dropping and the
homework keeps piling up.

Tooooooooooon: Russell Wilson and Nick Toon connected for five
completions and two scores against NIU Saturday, demonstrating what
Bret Bielema called ?an obvious connection? between the two.

While South Dakota may not be a team that strikes fear into the
hearts of most college football fans, don't expect that to change
the way the Badgers prepare for their opponent this weekend.
Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema knows that if his
team wants to win, the Badgers can't change the way they practice,
regardless of who they are playing.

When an offense puts on the sort of clinic that Russell Wilson and
company displayed on Saturday at Soldier Field in Chicago, it's
easy to overlook the defensive contributions.
(09/12/11 6:00am)
For an offense that has been known for running the ball very
effectively, the Wisconsin football team (0-0 Big Ten, 2-0 overall)
showed this past weekend that the passing game can also be a
formidable weapon.

Put it on tape.

Offense: The Wisconsin offense proved in its season opener it
has meshed well, but head coach Bret Bielema is confident that it
can improve as the season progresses.
