On Sept. 8, 2008, Seth Russell, a 15-year-old boy from Arkansas,
went out tubing with his family on Lake Chicot in Arkansas.
According to associatecontent.com, Russell was having a fantastic
time until he collided with a fish—specifically, an Asian silver
carp. His mother said he does not remember a thing from the
incident; the impact was so great that the carp was killed, and
Russell went to the hospital with a broken jaw, broken teeth and
whiplash.

Fish have historically been a subject of religion, human
sustenance, sport, income and entertainment. But now, something is
coming. Something we've never seen before. Cue the dramatic
repetition of notes E and F in a blatant crescendo.

I don't know about you, but I can't believe summer is just
around the corner. I feel like I'm still getting out of my winter
slump (or maybe that's just my junioritis kicking in). And with the
warm weather finally settling in for good, Lake Mendota is open for
business. But how safe is the water actually? Do you really know
what you're swimming in?

I know I'm jumping the first-anniversary gun or maybe just
missing the farewell boat by the better part of a year, but a
career of such transforming polarizations is beginning to complete
its form for me. Michael Jackson transcended cultural and artistic
barriers, which has been conflicting a large majority of the
general populace since the beginning of his career. Reflecting on
the last year, the last pieces of his career have fallen securely
into a safe place for him, as his death has prompted a 360-degree
turn among fans. Just a year ago, most saw him as an alleged
pedophile who had become more deformed than the zombies in his
""Thriller"" video from 30 years ago. However now that he has
passed, somehow the dark secrets in his closet are forgotten
entirely while everybody stands in awe of the glistening garments
that masked his vices and drew roaring applause throughout his
career.

As I approach the day when I'll stand in my blue gown, getting
my B.A. in B.S., with a rolled-up piece of paper in my hand, I
continuously replay the last four years of my life. I laugh, I
smile, I cringe. It's kind of like trying to watch an episode of
""South Park"" in your living room with your parents and your
grandma.

For anyone who loves a good zombie movie, George Romero's name
has become practically synonymous with the living dead. Therefore,
it's no surprise that the new release ""The Crazies,"" a remake of
Romeo's 1973 film by the same name, gives off the vibe of just
another film infected by the zombie craze. Fortunately, it's
not.

If you are choosing to see a movie with the title ""Valentine's
Day,"" you have to be aware of the quality that you can expect from
it. This star-studded chick flick, directed by Garry Marshall,
opened in a transparently opportunistic fashion, just in time for
the holiday of the same name. When watched with low expectations
and a complete detachment from reality, the film offers exactly
what it promises to provide—a superficial distraction from the
concept of real life without any lingering impression.

Somewhere in the world, there is a very happy 13-year-old
Evangelical Christian boy. After years of struggling to find a
happy compromise between Bible-thumping religiosity and the
bullet-riddled fight scenes of modern action flicks, Hollywood has
finally melded the two together in the most maladroitly literal way
possible. With the release of ""Legion,"" hyperactive Sunday school
graduates have finally realized their ultimate wet dream fantasy:
angels fighting with machine guns.

Vampire Weekend is a gimmick—much of the
band's initial appeal lives in their painstakingly planned image,
both visually and musically. Just as Angus Young dressed in prep
school clothes to bring attention to AC/DC, the members of Vampire
Weekend consistently don Wayfarers, polo shirts and boat shoes to
reinforce their prep-school image.

My boyfriend wants to try anal sex, but I am not as

us?

Typically at this point in the season, the NFL playoff picture
is getting clearer with each passing week. This season, however,
that trend is only holding true in one conference. The NFC playoff
picture is taking shape with both Green Bay and Philadelphia
winning last week to improve to 7-4 to separate themselves from the
6-5 Giants and Falcons. It's pretty certain the final five weeks
will be a battle between these four teams for the two wild-card
spots, with Green Bay and Philadelphia in the driver's seat.

Gavin calls out ""Chicken!"" and plunges into the ocean hundreds
of feet below. The Count mutters ""I wish I weren't so fat,"" as he
makes his way to the opposite point of the radio tower, quotes some
lyrics and plunges in after him. The camera cuts to the two of them
apologizing to each other on air, The Count with a broken arm and
Gavin with a huge cast on his leg.

Last week, the Wisconsin legislature's Joint Finance Committee
passed legislation setting up a new public financing structure for
Supreme Court candidates. This public financing would provide
campaign funding for viable Supreme Court candidates who agree to
forgo private financing, totaling $100,000 for primary elections
and $300,000 for general elections. Clearly lawmakers were reacting
to last year's campaign between Justice Michael Gableman and former
Justice Louis Butler Jr., which was widely considered to be one of
the nastiest statewide campaigns in recent memory.
