Senior quarterback Brooks Bollinger never dazzled anyone. His
numbers were good, but not great. His arm was not as strong or as
accurate as many of his counterparts. He even spent a large part of
his career as the second most-popular quarterback on the team--at
least in the eyes of the student section. Despite all this,
Bollinger leaves with three bowl victories under his belt and 30
wins; the most ever for a UW quarterback. The Daily Cardinal pays
tribute to Bollinger's career with a look at his top five
games.

Senior Day. The Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe. One of the most
storied rivalries in all of college football. The seniors' last

Defense may win games, but don't tell that to the Wisconsin
football team. Ignited by senior quarterback Brooks Bollinger and
sophomore running back Anthony Davis, the Badgers' offense exploded
late in the fourth quarter to recapture Paul Bunyan's Axe and
ensure a bowl game as UW beat Minnesota 49-31.

As far as big games go, they do not get much bigger for the
Badgers than this Saturday. The Badgers (1-6 Big Ten, 6-6 overall)
have to deal with a multitude of underlying themes when they take
on Minnesota (3-4, 7-4) at Camp Randall Stadium.

While the UW football team has made great strides in the past
decade, the one thing that Head Coach Barry Alvarez has been unable
to provide is a good, old-fashioned rivalry. Some might point to
Minnesota, with Paul Bunyan's Axe up for grabs, but outside of
students from Minnesota, the game means very little. Others might
claim Michigan as UW's rival, but unfortunately, for a rivalry to
exist, the opposing team must actually acknowledge the
rivalry.

As construction crews tear potholes into the earth around the
south end of Camp Randall Stadium, the 2002 Badger football season
is underway with spring practice that began Saturday. Wisconsin is
eager to erase the memory a disappointing 5-7 season that saw
Wisconsin finish without a bowl, an axe or a home victory over
Michigan.

MINNEAPOLIS'It is said that history repeats itself. If this is
true, then the Wisconsin football team has had a repeating
nightmare.

For the first time since 1995, the battle for the Paul Bunyan

In an ideal world, we could all prance through the streets every
day wearing pink tights, caking our faces with massive amounts of
face paint and screaming in an irritating fashion. Unfortunately,
not everybody has the good fortune of Richard Simmons, and the rest
of us must cram our fun into a single night each year.
