Wisconsin Badgers preview:
The Big Ten season is finally at the doorstep, and everyone is chomping at the bit to get things underway. There are 126 games before the conference tournament starts, and every team technically has a shot at the regular season title—even Rutgers. The Badgers are the favorite to take the crown, but there are several teams that stand in their way. They'll play each team before the season is through, and a few stand a good shot at beating them.
Although Bo Ryan's season did not end quite the way he imagined, he received a consolation prize Wednesday as he was awarded the Adolph Rupp Cup for national coach of the year.
UW football signs another
In a statement released Monday by UW Athletic Communications, it was revealed junior forward Brian Butch suffered a dislocation with an associated fracture of the right elbow in Sunday's game and will be out four to six weeks. The move will likely end Butch's season unless the Badgers make it to the Final Four.
The Wisconsin football team (7-1 Big Ten, 11-1 overall) discovered Sunday it will play Arkansas (7-2 SEC, 10-3) in the Capital One Bowl Jan. 1 in Orlando. Although there is little history between the two teams, as they have played each other only once, UW head coach Bret Bielema is happy with the matchup.
