Culver’s is giving out free cheese curds on Oct. 15 from 2-6pm at the front of Memorial Union today in honor of National Cheese Curd Day.
Alison Demmer, Associate Director of PR and brand spokesperson, told The Daily Cardinal Culver’s sells 40 million cheese curds a year. The franchise, which was founded in Wisconsin, created National Cheese Curd Day in 2015.
This year, National Cheese Curd Day is part of a month-long celebration called Curdtoberfest.
Culver’s is partnering with UW Athletics to host this event and student-athletes will be present at the activation. Many of the athletes are members of the University of Wisconsin-Madison football team.
“Culvers has been a proud partner of Wisconsin Athletics for more than 25 years,” Jen Schmidt, Culver’s senior marketing manager, said in an email to the Cardinal. “Culver’s is now the jersey patch sponsor for Badger football, men’s basketball and men’s hockey and an on-court partner at the Kohl Center.”
Hosting part of this event at UW-Madison “just made sense,” Demmer said. “Madison has been a really important market and part of our story for such a long time.”
Last year, Culver’s hosted a similar event in Milwaukee. The location tends to change each year, Demmer said.
