Babcock Dairy Store unveiled a new flavor, Levylicious Salted Turtle, in recognition of Jeff and Marvin Levy’s gift to the new Irving and Dorothy Levy Hall on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus Sept. 17.
Levylicious Salted Turtle is a blended mix of salted caramel ice cream, rich fudge swirls and roasted salted pecan pieces. Specifically curated and named by the brothers, one staff member, Mia, told The Daily Cardinal they haven't had a flavor like it and it’s “one of the better flavors we’ve had.”
Few UW-Madison supporters have had the honor of seeing their name in a custom Babcock ice cream, but the Levys's extensive history in philanthropy has certainly merited it.
The Levys’ $20 million donation supported the grand opening of Irving and Dorothy Levy Hall on Sept. 17 — the first new humanities building in 50 years, named in honor of their parents.
As alumni, the Levys have donated to the university before including $75 million towards the Phillip A. Levy Engineering Center named in honor of their late brother.
In addition to the educational buildings, they have provided support to Madison nonprofits such as the children’s museum and the public library. Their support to other areas of the school extends from the athletics department to the law school.
The new ice cream flavor will be featured and available for just 4-6 weeks past its release date.
