President Biden to visit Wisconsin on Tuesday

Biden, who last gave February remarks in Madison, plans to speak days before the GOP primary debate in Milwaukee

President Joe Biden will travel to Milwaukee on Tuesday to tout his economic agenda and court voters in Wisconsin, a key state in the upcoming 2024 election.

The visit comes a day before the first anniversary of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, a cornerstone of Biden’s economic plan.

“Bidenomics is investing in America to grow the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top down,” the Biden administration said in a media release Friday.

Biden’s visit also comes a week before the Republican primary debate, which will take place in Milwaukee on Aug. 23. Milwaukee is also the site of the GOP’s nominating convention next year.

Biden last visited Wisconsin in February. He delivered a similar message praising labor unions and middle-class economic policies during a stop at a labor union training center near Madison.

A spokesperson for the University of Wisconsin-Madison College Democrats told The Daily Cardinal on Friday they were “excited that Biden recognizes the importance of Wisconsin going into the 2024 presidential race.”

“We know that this visit, coming right before the start of school, will help jumpstart organizing on campuses across the state,” they said.
