Former Badger killed in UVA shooting

Former Badger Devin Chandler was killed at the University of Virginia overnight, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Chandler was one of three Cavalier players shot and killed Sunday.

University of Virginia police identified the suspect as Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a former UVA football player. He has been taken into custody

Chandler, a former standout receiver for the Badgers, transferred to Virginia after playing for Wisconsin in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Chandler played six games in 2020 and four games in 2021 before entering the transfer portal at the end of the 2021 season.

Badger coaches and players have canceled their planned press appearances for Monday morning after the news hit about Chandler's passing. Star Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen and other former teammates took to Twitter to acknowledge the incident.
