Nebraska man arrested for sexual assault, disorderly conduct in southeast residence hall

A Nebraska man was arrested by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department (UWPD) Sunday after sexually assaulting a southeast residence hall resident.

On early Sunday morning, UWPD officers responded to a report of a sexual assault and identified the suspect as Maxwell D. Sanders, 19, of Omaha, Neb. He is not affiliated with the university.

Sanders was booked into Dane County Jail on the charges of 4th Degree Sexual Assualt and Disorderly Conduct. The charge is a misdemeanor.

According to the UWPD release, Sanders was invited into the residence hall by a friend where he then inappropriately touched a resident. He later attempted to access other rooms in the hall before leaving.

The UWPD believes there may be additional victims and urges individuals to contact the department at (608)-264-2677.

“Because we know the suspect was trying to gain access to other rooms, it’s very possible there are other victims,” UWPD Executive Director of Communications Marc Lovicott said.

The UWPD identified Sanders and found him in another residence hall before taking him into custody. He was residing with a friend.
