Students, community members celebrate UW-Madison Homecoming

Homecoming week at UW-Madison is a time-honored tradition filled with student and community activities that highlight what it means to be a badger.

This year, UW-Madison students, staff, alumni and community members will celebrate the 107th Homecoming with a parade and football game, two of the oldest homecoming traditions.

State Street will be decorated with red Friday night as a collection of students and parade floats march down the road. Bucky Badger will also make an appearance to say hello to all who come to show their spirit. The parade is open and free to the public and will begin at 6 p.m.

After the parade, a block party will be held at Alumni Park and will have fun activities for Badgers of all ages, including face painting, outdoor games and a magician. The Wisconsin Pep Rally will also be held at the block party.

On Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers will take on the Illinois Fighting Illini in a football game set to kickoff at 11 a.m.

Other events throughout Homecoming week include the Fill the Hill campaign on Thursday, a fish fry at the Memorial Union on Friday and the Badger Bash and the Multicultural Homecoming tailgates before Saturday’s home football game.

American Family Insurance, the Fluno Center and the University Bookstore are sponsors of UW-Madison Homecoming 2018.
