Police searching for ‘suspicious person’ who grabbed woman’s neck near Langdon Street

Police are seeking help identifying a “suspicious person” after a woman’s screams frightened away an unidentified attacker near campus early Saturday morning.

The 24-year-old woman was walking home shortly before 2 a.m. on the 600 block of North Carroll Street when the suspect ran behind her and grabbed her neck, according to a Madison Police Department incident report. After she screamed, the suspect fled. The woman did not report any property theft or injury.

The alleged perpetrator is a white male with brown hair and glasses, police said. At the time of the incident he was wearing jeans, according to the report.

The MPD urges anyone who may have information on the incident to call 608-255-2345.
