Wisconsin presidential primary live blog

Our live coverage has ended, but check out our full stories on Bernie Sanders' victory in the Democratic primary, Ted Cruz's win for the Republicans, Rebecca Bradley remaining on the state Supreme Court and Hayley Young winning Dane County District 5 representative. As always, follow @CardPolitics for political updates throughout the 2016 election.

Update 11:04 p.m.

The Associated Press has called the state Supreme Court race for Rebecca Bradley. Opponent JoAnne Kloppenburg's campaign has acknowledged that there may not be enough votes to make up the gap between the two candidates but has not conceded. Bradley is leading by 84,000 votes.

Update 9:58 p.m.

With 53 percent of precincts in, incumbent Wisconsin Supreme Court Judge Rebecca Bradley is leading challenger Circuit Court Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg 54-46. However, some of Wisconsin's more liberal areas have yet to fully report, including Dane and La Crosse counties, so the race could very well tighten.

Update 9:42 p.m.

With three precincts reporting, Hayley Young is leading in her quest to represent District 5 on the Dane County Board of Supervisors. She has 62 percent of the vote to Angelito Tenorio's 36 percent.

Update 9:07 p.m.

Ted Cruz is even winning in Dane County, leading Donald Trump by roughly 1,000 votes and Ohio Gov. John Kasich by 3,000. Trump could eke out a win in the congressional district including Waukesha County but that area is still too close to call.

Updated 8:44 p.m.

With roughly twenty percent of precincts reporting, The Daily Cardinal can call Wisconsin's Democratic primary for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. While Sanders is only leading by a few points statewide, the fact that Madison, a stronghold for his campaign, has not yet reported means that we can call the race with confidence.

Updated 8:39 p.m.

With roughly seven percent of precincts reporting, The Daily Cardinal can call Wisconsin's Republican primary for Texas Sen. Cruz. Cruz's strength early in the Milwaukee suburbs have helped us call the race a mere 40 minutes after the polls have closed. Exit polls show that Donald Trump could still win delegates in Wisconsin's northwest congressional district, but that is still too close to call.

Updated 8:26 p.m.

Early counties reporting include Ozaukee, Kenosha, Waukesha and Brown. Cruz has a major lead in the Milwaukee suburbs, which is part of the reason some media outlets have been able to call the race so early.

Updated 8:23 p.m.

NBC News has called Wisconsin's Republican primary for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. The Daily Cardinal will refrain from calling the race at this time, as it is too close to call.

Updated 8:08 p.m.

Even if we know a winner early tonight, the delegate math means that there is still a lot to play for. On the Republican side, a candidate wins 18 delegates if they win the state of Wisconsin overall. A candidate also wins delegates for winning each of Wisconsin's eight congressional districts, meaning that multiple candidates can win delegates tonight. Given that Donald Trump reaching the threshold necessary to secure the nomination could come down to a few delegates either way, every congressional district won tonight could matter in the overall political equation.

Updated 8:06 p.m.

Fox News has called the Wisconsin Democratic primary for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The Daily Cardinal will refrain from calling the race at this time, as it is still too close to call.
