Jake Rudock has excelled at Michigan since transferring from Iowa.

Rudock breaks out in close call against IU

Michigan survived a scare in Bloomington last weekend thanks to a six-touchdown performance from quarterback Jake Rudock. The Hoosiers gave the Wolverines all they could handle, taking them to double overtime. However, the game would not have even reached extra time had it not been for a five-yard Rudock touchdown pass with two seconds left that tied the game. He then threw for two scores in overtime, using just three plays to lead the Michigan offense to paydirt.

Rudock threw a 21-yard pass on the Wolverines’ second play of the first overtime to tie the game. The Wolverines then got the ball right back and Rudock fired a 25-yard pass on the first play to give the Wolverines the lead and ultimately the win. The senior completed 33-of-46 passes for a whopping 440 yards, and a school-record six touchdowns.

Rudock kept Michigan’s hopes of a Big Ten East title alive. They will need help from Ohio State this week as the Buckeyes will need to defeat Michigan State. The Wolverines will also have to pass a tough test against Penn State in Happy Valley to stay in the title hunt. If both of these happen, it will set up a game in Ann Arbor for the right to a trip to Indianapolis, where a J.T. Barrett vs. Jake Rudock shootout would be a fitting way to end a wild Big Ten East season.
