Cool Waters

Cool, deep blue waters!

Under open azure skies!

The crisp and clear scene,

In my mind's eye.

How curious the memory of a sight!  

It slumbers, replete

With subtle details, complete

Within the vaults of the mind.

The labyrinthine hallways,

The galleries and walkways

Of conjured images,

Portraits, always past.

Now a scent, indeed a scene, from childhood,

Sweet, intricate, mysterious, multicolored,

Lo! Comes alive at once.

Of no fixed abode hitherto, Cool Water,

Henceforth the fragrant memory,

You become.

How evocative!

Cool, deep blue waters

Under open azure skies.

Now  you   are.
