Following an investigation by the Dane County Narcotics Task Force, officers arrested a suspected heroin dealer Tuesday afternoon after a short chase on Madison’s South Side, according to a police report released Wednesday.
Police officers in two squad cars pursued an SUV containing suspected dealer Quentin Spears on Fish Hatchery Road, after the driver would not pull over. The police feared for citizen safety and terminated the chase, according to the report.
The empty SUV was found on the 600 block of Pine Street minutes later, and Spears and two other men attempted to escape. However, officers soon arrested them.
Officers arrested Spears on three counts of delivery of heroin, probation hold and resisting arrest. The two other men were arrested for resisting arrest. They also seized multiple cell phones, more than $3,500 in cash and the SUV.
A Pine Street homeowner later reported finding a bag of heroin, which police believe the suspects tossed while on the run.
