Wisconsin Democrats claim Schimel training videos are inappropriate

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Richard Niess held a hearing Wednesday in response to a suit filed by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for the release of Brad Schimel’s Justice Department training videos.

DPW filed the civil suit against the Wisconsin Department of Justice. State Democrats, including Democratic candidate for attorney general Susan Happ, claim the videos contain questionable remarks made by the Republican candidate for attorney general.

Schimel serves as a state prosecutor training instructor. The tapes of these seminars contain his insight into how to catch and prosecute predators who prey on children, according to a press release from Schimel’s campaign.

Schimel said in the release Happ is making a mistake. He said releasing the tapes to the public would endanger Wisconsin by exposing this information to predators and their attorneys.

Neiss will review the training videos and plans to hold another hearing Oct. 30.
