State Sen. Joe Leibham, R-Sheboygan, and Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris announced Tuesday they will run for Wisconsin’s 6th district congressional seat.
Harris is the first Democrat to enter the race, meaning in the primary election on August 12th, the three GOP candidates—Leibham, state Sen. Glenn Grothman, R-West Bend, and state Rep. Duey Stroebel, R-Saukville—will run against one another.
Leibham said he plans to reform taxes, regulations and health care in Washington, D.C., according to a statement.
“Throughout my life as an Eagle Scout, legislator and dad, I have used my conservative principles and positive personality to bring about much needed change,” Leibham said.
He listed more than 20 members of his campaign advisory committee that have endorsed his campaign.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Harris said he plans to focus on funding Social Security and highway projects, college affordability and raising the minimum wage.
The general election is set for Nov. 4.
