Madison police arrested a Milwaukee man Sunday morning for stealing a woman’s personal belongings outside State Street Brats, according to a police report.
While exiting State Street Brats, a bar patron saw 29-year-old Brian Bromerek allegedly stealing an iPhone and credit card from an unattended purse and jacket left on a bench outside the bar, located at 603 State St., Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said.
The 23-year-old female victim had left her jacket and purse unattended while she was dancing, according to the report.
The witness took pictures of the incident and showed them to a nearby police officer. Shortly after contacting the officer, the witness spotted Bromerek nearby, according to DeSpain.
The items were then returned to the woman, police said.
Additionally, Bromerek was found possessing narcotics and has been tentatively charged with both crimes, according to the repo
