UW-Madison’s Office of Sustainability will open with an event and reception on Friday, March 9 at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
A product of recommendations by students, faculty and staff participants in the university’s 2010 Sustainability Initiative, the Office of Sustainability will promote environmental sustainability on campus.
“The University of Wisconsin-Madison will be a living model for sustainability, exemplifying values and actions that demonstrate our commitment to stewardship of resources … and the health and well-being of the broader community, now and for the future,” according to a statement on the university’s sustainability website.
The office’s launch will begin at 1 p.m. with introductory remarks by Provost Paul DeLuca and Vice Chancellor for Administration Darrell Bazzell. They will be followed by a presentation from students and staff members involved in the sustainability initiative.
