UW-Madison received a record number of freshman applications this year, totaling over 28,000.
According to the school's admissions website, that figure represents a 12 percent increase in applications from last year.
The website informed prospective students last Tuesday they had reviewed most of the applications, and decisions would be available through their My UW page.
According to The Wisconsin State Journal, the university received 24,990 applications last year.
The admissions website said they usually accept between 50 and 55 percent of applicants in a given year.
In comparison to two other Big Ten schools, UW-Madison ranks in the middle.
According to their respective school newspapers, the University of Iowa received 16,800 applications this year, while the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities received 38,831.
