Madison man charged following theft from car incidents

A 55-year-old Madison man was charged Thursday with two counts of receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct, Madison Police said.

Madison Police said the suspect, Eton Bentley, has been under investigation since Jan. 26, when he was arrested for disorderly conduct after being found inside a resident's van on the 400 block of North Henry Street.

The 33-year-old witness trailed Bentley and called emergency dispatch as he fled the scene. The witness was able to give Madison police the location in order to make the arrest, police said.

""Mr. Bentley was in possession of many things including a GPS unit, three cell phones, five cell phone chargers, a credit card and a pair of headphones,"" Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said in a statement.

The investigation revealed the GPS unit and the credit card were stolen from separate vehicles parked in the Langdon Street area on the night of Bentley's arrest, police said.
