A 15-year-old Madison West High School student was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon Friday after the Madison Police Department was notified early Friday morning that the Madison teen had a handgun.
Around noon Friday police contacted the student outside of the school. The teen had a loaded .22-caliber handgun in his pocket, according to the incident report.

The student allegedly did not threaten anyone, and according to police there is no evidence the handgun was inside the school at this point in the investigation.
""The Madison Metropolitan School District will be sending a letter home to West parents explaining the situation,"" Madison police spokesperson Joel DeSpain said in a statement.
