WiscAlerts, UW-Madison's emergency text-messaging system, has officially registered more than 15,000 users.
The system already sent out its first emergency message of the spring semester on Jan. 22 to caution against the gas and water main leak near the Biochemistry Building.
The WiscAlerts system operates on several different levels, including text messages, e-mail, voicemail and Web information to inform students, faculty and staff about critical campus situations.
All members of the UW-Madison community are advised to register for the system by visiting the My UW Portal.
