Winter Restaurant Week serves up Madison's finest culinary creations

Frigid winter weather frequently traps diners indoors, but Madison's Winter Restaurant Week will coax even the coziest from their cabins. Beginning Sunday, January 25, this weeklong event features over 30 local restaurants, each offering delectable three-course dinners for $25. Whether you're craving seafood, lamb or savory vegetarian dishes, these restaurants are sure to please. Each restaurant offers several choices for appetizer, entrée and dessert courses.

Brocach Irish Pub, 7 West Main St., showcases traditional Irish flavors with breads, sausages and stews. Their fig and mozzarella salad tops mixed greens, mozzarella and figs with prosciutto and pine nuts, and a final toss of wildflower honey and balsamic dressing. The Guinness Irish stew simmers lamb and root vegetables with Guinness and herbs. For dessert, savor apple crisp, bread pudding or cheesecake.

Enjoy red wine poached pear or sweet carrot soup at Bluephies, 2701 Monroe St. For the main entrée, they serve up pan-seared jumbo sea scallops, pumpkin tortellini or porcini rubbed pot roast. Finally, choose from assorted petit fours, cookie dough egg rolls with vanilla custard or chocolate-banana-peanut butter bread pudding.

Samba is offering their mouthwatering smorgasbord of antipasti bar and grilled meats, normally $34 per person, at the same great price of $25. Other fantastic restaurants include the revamped Dayton Street Grille, Harvest, Le Chardonnay, Lombardino's, Ocean Grill, and The Dardanelles on Monroe Street.
