VIP and Office of Admissions to merge, application process will not change

The UW-Madison Office of Admissions and Visitor and Information Programs will join forces Feb. 1, Provost Patrick Ferrell announced Wednesday.

The combined effort will become a part of the Division of Enrollment Management, which deals with Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Services, Office of the Registrar and the Integrated Student Information System.

Visitor and Information Programs and admissions already collaborate on a variety of important programs and services, so it makes good sense for us to pool our resources,"" Steve Amundson, VIP director said in a statement.

According to university officials, the collaboration will not change the student admissions process or campus tours. The joining of the two programs will focus on customer service to more efficiently answer questions from students and parents interested in the university.

Robert Seltzer, UW-Madison admissions director, will take over a leadership position in the Division of Enrollment Management with the joining of offices in February.

His work will focus on setting long-term plans for the university's enrollment goals.
