Congratulations to Ryan Dashek for his wisdom, insight and courage in encouraging lawmakers to tighten drunken driving laws. Ryan has a clear understanding of the societal danger involved in the impaired driving arena as well as the multi-faceted approach required to address it.
Every citizen must step up and let their legislator know that we want to be safe on our roadways. Tougher drunk driving laws and the enforcement of those laws will help save lives. There are ways to implement these laws without cost to taxpayers. In fact - through fiscal and human loss - inaction is likely more costly than action.
MADD is hopeful that 2009 will be the year of positive change to reduce impaired driving and its widespread devastation. Ryan's effort to bring awareness and education regarding this issue to the public is necessary and appreciated.
