UW-Madison's Associated Students of Madison Shared Governance Committee is asking students to apply for standing committee seats for the fall semester.
Wisconsin state law gives students the right to provide input in all governing decisions regarding students' educational experience. The Shared Governance Committee appoints students to more than 50 campus committees to make such decisions with UW-Madison staff, faculty and administrators.
Student seats on 25 committees are yet to be filled, and students are encouraged to apply for any one of the open committees by 5:00 p.m. Sept. 21.
Shared Governance has been a fantastic experience for me - the people are great to work with, and you feel like you are doing something important,"" Shared Governance Committee Chair Adam Sheka said. ""Shared Governance isn't an opportunity for UW students - it's a responsibility to this institution and to the state.""
All students are welcome to attend Shared Governance Committee meetings every Tuesday at 5:00 pm in Memorial Union. Check ""Today in the Union"" for exact meeting locations.
