A former UW-Madison student was formally charged with first degree intentional homicide Friday morning for allegedly stabbing Joel Marino to death Jan. 28.
Adam C. Peterson, 20, was arrested Thursday, June 26, in Grant, Minn. at his mother's home. DNA taken from Peterson Thursday match DNA extracted from the knife, backpack and knit hat found during the five-month investigation, according to Madison police.
Peterson attended UW-Madison in fall 2007, after transferring from UW-La Crosse, but dropped out in October.
At a news conference Friday, Madison Police Chief Noble Wray said \there is no current forensic connection"" to link Peterson to the April 2 homicide of UW-Madison student Brittany Zimmermann.
