All Badgers teams pass NCAA academic scores

All 23 UW-Madison sports reached a NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 60 percent during the 2006-'07 school year, according to the most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate scores released Tuesday.

The men's cross country team, which received a public recognition award in April for its strong academics, had an APR score equivalent to a 100 percent graduation rate last year.

Other high-scoring teams included volleyball - UW-Madison's other public recognition award honoree - women's hockey and men's and women's tennis.

Overall, there is much to be encouraged about with the latest data,"" NCAA President Myles Brand said in a statement of Division I teams overall.

The APR scores are part of a NCAA academic reform effort, which began four years ago.

""When we started four years ago, baseball and football were in serious trouble. There has been great improvement in both of those sports,"" Brand said.
