UW names UHS executive director finalists

Four finalists for the University Health Services executive director position were named Monday.

The finalists include Sarah Van Orman, current UHS director of clinical services, Ferdinand Schlapper, Health, Wellness and Counseling Services executive director at Boise State University; Glenn Egelman, director and physician-in-chief of Bowling Green State University's Student Health Service and Dana Mills, Marquette University Student Health Service director.

This is a talented set of finalists, all of whom have the specialized skills necessary to lead a major student health service,"" Darrell Bazzell, vice chancellor for administration, said in a statement.

Each finalist will spend two days on campus before the semester ends to meet with students, faculty, staff and UHS employees. As part of their two-day visit, candidates will give a presentation for students called ""Top Health Issues Facing College Students.""

Schlapper will visit on April 28 to 29, Egelman May 1 to 2, Mills will visit May 6 to 7, and Van Orman's campus program will be May 8-9.

The new executive director will replace Kathy Poi, who retired in 2007, and Susan Crowley, who is currently serving as interim executive director.
