Madison police issued statements Monday regarding two officers who received reprimands for violations of policy committed early this year.
On July 31, an officer unintentionally discharged a taser during testing procedures, causing self-injury,"" according to a police statement.
Given the injury, the taser's unintentional discharge was considered a disregard for safety and in violation of policy. Police said a letter of reprimand was issued to the officer for the violation.
Police also made a statement regarding an internal investigation into a complaint against an officer who made ""inappropriate comments"" to a citizen.
The investigation determined the officer had used ""unprofessional language"" during a response to a disturbance call. The officer also failed to submit a report of the call, in which the officer detained one of the subjects involved with handcuffs.
For failing to submit a report, the officer received a one-day unpaid suspension. For using insulting and obscene language, the officer received a letter of reprimand.
